Holiday Party Outfits: Make it Festive not Fussy

Holiday Party Outfits: Make it Festive not Fussy

The party season is upon us! Get ready to sip some bubbles and indulge in a little decadence. When considering our dressing strategy for the occasion, chances are we have a few pieces we deem “holiday,” but it may not be clear if they’re really making the statement we’d like. Those Christmas tree light dangle earrings are definitely on theme, but perhaps we could find another way to state our enthusiastic intention for party fun? And, if you’re asking yourself whether you have any decent black pants, chances are you should go ahead and throw a pair or two in your cart. Trust us, it’s a must for now and forever.

The statement pieces we’ve selected do most of the work for you, so pick up a fun little gauzy top or add a splash of classic tartan plaid to some basic pieces, and boom! There you have it. Classic festive look, without really ever having to ask whether the Santa sleigh bell sweatshirt really deserves another year out on the town. Now, fill that beverage fridge, find some mistletoe and/or get ready to light that menorah, and let’s celebrate!

BLACK PANTS

A selection of black pants to wear to a holiday soiree with a festive top, but also a few that can easily swing into the office as well. Welcome back, black pant of the 90’s, we’ve missed you!

FESTIVE BLOUSES

The trend this season is a poofy organza blouse tucked into light-wash high-waisted 90’s jeans. You could opt for a sequin top with the jeans if the poof seems too much and you want some sparkle in your life. If it all feels a bit too much, opt for a chunky sweater and pair it with a silk bias cut skirt, or jeans. Stick to white, cream, nude, pink, grey or black for the sweater, and get it cropped so it sits at the waist of your jeans, or french tuck the front. Definitely accessorize with a super cute clutch (see below).

TARTAN

Something about winter makes us want to wear red plaid, but alas, lets try to look chic and less like Mrs. Claus’ helper. Instead of a super tight legging, opt for a wide leg pant paired with a chunky knit and boot. Or try a jacket or blazer, jeans or trousers, and a cable knit sweater. White rhinestones and/or pearls feel fresh when layered with red tartan, so don’t hold back on some bling if you want it.

EVENING CLUTCHES

This is the time to add a bit of sparkle to your look, so pull out your jewelry and have at it! Another lush add-on is a fun evening bag, and there are plenty of cutsies out there right now. The best ones have a wrist strap for cocktail holding ease, and lots of fun embellishments.
