Zanzibar

Zanzibar

Zanzibar is as turquoise, exotic and dreamy as it looks in these pictures. I recommend 1-2 nights in Stone Town. We did it in the beginning of our trip and relaxed on the beaches afterwards. It's interesting to wander around the town, but very small. We saw a massive amount of spiders, but thankfully only in one alley. We then moved to the northeast side of the island called Matemwe Beach, where the beach and water is unbelievably stunning. Green and Blue's grounds are overfilled with tropical gardens, and they lit floral incense at night so everywhere smelled like a gigantic gardenia. Our last stop was in the south at Unguja Lodge (because we read they had monkeys there), which was more secluded and relaxing. The bungalow was massive and the overall vibe was more natural feeling.

We stayed at Emerson Spice in Stonetown / Green and Blue on Matemwe Beach / Unguja Lodge in the south. We booked our hotels with Africa Travel Resource.
